Winning the war requires a mission, a vision, and a strategy

For the sake of our children, indeed our whole community, it is a war we cannot , must not lose.

Our foundation's motto, Ex Scientia Libertas translates to From Knowledge Comes Liberty.  Too many important things are no longer in our shcools: home economics, wood shop, metalworking shop, practical mathematics, practical science, ehtics, citizenship...

Without these educational opportunities our young people, even many of our young adults, cannot know what their rights and liberties are, they don't know how to do things most of us take for granted.  They cannot stand against those that would take those things away from them and are often taken advantage of by "professionals".  It is not melodramatic to say that our township library stands between liberty and dependency (a form of servitude).

 

Our Mission

The mission of the Carthage Public Library Foundation is to support and enhance the library’s role as a vibrant community center, fostering lifelong learning, literacy, and cultural engagement for all residents of our rural community. By funding programs, resources, and facility improvements, we aim to expand access to information, inspire curiosity, and promote a love of reading and learning across generations. Through partnerships, donations, and volunteer efforts, we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive space that strengthens community ties and empowers individuals in their educational and personal growth.

Through sustained support and community partnerships, we aim to expand resources, technology, and programming that inspire lifelong learning, bridge educational gaps, and cultivate a shared love for reading and continual learning. Our foundation aspires to strengthen the community by empowering individuals, fostering inclusive growth, and preserving the library as a place of opportunity and connection for generations to come.

Our Strategy

The strategy of the Carthage Public Library Foundation is to secure and allocate resources that enable our rural library to meet the evolving needs of our community effectively. We focus on building sustainable financial support through fundraising, grants, and community partnerships, ensuring the library can expand its collection, improve technology, and offer meaningful diverse programs for all ages. By engaging with residents, local businesses, and educational organizations, we work to amplify community involvement and address specific needs, such as digital literacy, workforce development, and youth/adult engagement. Our goal is to continually enhance the library’s role as an accessible, vibrant, and indispensable community resource.
